ERIN SHAMBURA, CHEF/OWNER
A New Jersey native, Chef and Owner Erin Shambura brings a deep passion for Italian cuisine, shaped by years of experience both in New York City’s acclaimed kitchens and throughout her travels in Northern Italy. Before opening Fausto, Erin spent six years at L’Artusi, where she first collaborated with her now-business partner, Joe Campanale. Her culinary journey has also included time at celebrated restaurants such as The Mercer Kitchen, Lupa, and Del Posto, each contributing to her thoughtful approach to technique, seasonality, and balance.
At Fausto, Erin celebrates Italy’s rich regional traditions, bringing them to life through Brooklyn’s vibrant seasonal offerings. Each house-made pasta, carefully composed sauce, and market-driven dish is a reflection of her deep reverence for Italian cooking — a balance of timeless flavors and personal expression, crafted to be shared and savored.
Joe Campanale, owner
Joe Campanale is a restaurateur, beverage expert, author, and radio host. A native New Yorker, Joe opened his first restaurant, the West Village mainstay dell’anima, at only 23 years old. It quickly became a downtown dining destination, beloved for its excellent food and Italy-centric wine list. Following its immediate success, he debuted L’Artusi in 2008 and Anfora in 2010, both celebrated for their casual elegance and neighborhood-focused approach to hospitality. Italian food, wine, and the generosity of spirit so widely associated with Italy’s top dining destinations has been at the heart of each of his endeavors, and the same is true of Fausto. Joe has been named a Food & Wine magazine Sommelier of the Year and has been featured on numerous “30 under 30” lists, including Forbes and Zagat. He has written about wine for various media outlets and has hosted more than 200 episodes of his wine-focused podcast "In the Drink." He lives in Brooklyn and is an avid runner.
